24

Again, it was a big mistake to scrub the cast, these new folks are not working out. I often felt that President Palmer was too wooden and his dialog was stilted and forced, but he grew on you. The new president is the same, so it has to be the writing and not the actor. It's interesting that the presidents in 24 seem to be isolated and very dependent. As opposed to President Bartlett of West Wing who clearly is in charge and is pro-active.

One funny thing about 24 is that it seems they are worried about people who start watching midstream and so they always try to bring you up to speed. So for instance, two seasons ago, there was something about a fake recording that was done in Cyprus that could prove that a terrorist attack was imminent. And so eveytime they talked about it, they would say everything, for instance:

Jack: Tell Tony to get satellite tasking on this location, I think the guy who created the fake Cyprus recording proving the terrorist attack may be there.

Michelle: Copy that, Jack. It is important that we get a hold of this guy who created the fake Cyprus recording that proves a terrorst attack may be imminent.

Turning to Tony, Michelle says: Tony, Jack may have a location on the guy who created the fake Cyprus recording proving a . . .

It gets comical after a while. It seems that this is modus operandi for the writers because they are doing the same thing this season too.

"Beruse, did she follow you to the warehouse, where we have Secretary of Defense Heller captive?"

Normal conversations would go thus, "Did she see the warehouse?"

Now, in the first three seasons there was a character named Cheryl Palmer. She was the President's wife and the ultimate schemer. Everyone loved her, her plotlines were sometimes so over the top that you couldn't help but laugh, nonetheless, we learned to live with her and enjoy her shenanigans. Of course she's gone this year but guess what? What would the show be without a manipulative, selfish Black woman? Enter, new lady, Black, selfish and manipulative, Omarosa on steroids.

BTW, I blinked and it appears there is a new The Apprentice with Donald Trump ready to go on air. The last just ended not even a couple of months ago. I don't get it, but the show has already lost credibility as a serious show and has descended into reality show entertainment rubbish. It appears that this next offering is going to be MBAs vs. Non-college grad business people. How silly.
