John Paul II RIP
I'm happy for him. It's all not his problem anymore. It is noteworthy that he died with the youth at the upcoming World Youth Day on his mind. There'll be much disecting of his legacy in the days, weeks, months and years ahead. But for now he is worthy of honor.
BTW, after the announcement, when they were praying the glorious mysteries in italian and you could here the translator, whoever it was goofed up. First, he was not that fluent and it just seems that at that level you can get someone who is very fluent in both langauges. Secondly, and more crucial was that he translated the Italian for resurrection as "resuscitated." This went on a couple of times until someone, I hope, screamed in ear.
Apparently Chris Matthews lost it and went on an angry Catholic screed. I was privileged not to witness it, I simply heard reports.
Anyway, great man, sad moment.
